Residents are invited to attend an informational meeting on Fire House No. 4 at 6 p.m. July 8 at City Hall, 825 W. Irving Blvd.

The new station will be built on MacArthur Boulevard between Weathered Street and Storyglen Drive to provide residents with increased safety. Construction on the new facility—which will be LEED certified to meet strict environmental standards—is set to begin in September.

Designed to blend with the surrounding neighborhood, the two-story station will total more than 15,500 square feet and will accommodate up to 15 firefighters. The house also will include training capabilities for rescue practice. The new facility is scheduled to be completed by late 2010.
